I think that maybe the boy she loved died, and now she wants to buy him flowers to put on his grave, but doesnt know if he'll like them because hes a boy hehe

I think that the flower is a symbol for love. When she finds that they boy she loved found another girl, she realizes that love doesn't last forever (hence the phrase: flowers never last forever). ^_^ I dunno... That's just what I think. ^_^
