I think that is not from google; that is from some company that uses the Google search engine. Check that out. I don't know if it really saves energy, cuz even tho screen is black, those pixels are not turned off... It is just a suspect I got

WOW!!! Google has a black version called: clean black [dot] com. It saves energy as it uses a black background. I really like it!
