i feel so angry for the people who cage these poor birds.... we should be ashamed to call our selves human.. and i would ike to thank the sanctuary to protect these beautiful creatures.

poor things ;( I wish there were more adoption/rescue centers for birds where I live. I really hate the fact of buying birds..would much rather adopt but the places are at least 7-8 hours away from me =(

that's so great. you're giving him the best life he could have in captivity. ideally, there would be no more caged birds or birds as pets and breeding would be illegal, but until that happens, the responsibility falls on us to give them what they should have had all along. i have 3 adopted parrots. they're not "friends" but they form a little flock and since parrots are such social animals, it's good for them to have other birds to keep each other company. thanks for your comment. :)

I've got a "passed from person to person" parrot, a BF Amazon who was taken from the jungle as a baby. He's been w/ me now for about 15 yrs. Not a "perfect" bird, but I love him for what he is. I used to think I would get more, even a handrasied baby, but after educating myself, and seeing even how Max spends most of his time alone, I have now will only adopt. They're awesome birds, but caging them even in the best home, is still not right. DON'T support breeders and the illegal trade, ADOPT

This is why the breeding needs to be stopped. This is why the selling needs to be stopped. This video opens with "you practically need a degree in psychology to understand parrots". That is because they are amazingly intelligent, complex, feeling beings that suffer everytime they are ditched by their family/flock, when they are left in cages, or left alone all day, yelled at, beaten, hidden in garages. We don't do them justice. The biggest cage is still a prison.Foster Parrots you do good work. |
