Here are your two Public Service Announcements for today:Tip Number One: How to Stop Telemarketers from bothering you:Many people aren't aware that telemarketers can now not only bug you at HOME, but they can now call your CELL PHONES and bug you too!Sooooo, if you're like me, and DON'T want to be bothered by these bottom feeders, then you can call 1-888-382-1222 (toll free) from EACH phone you want to "register" with the government, and then you will be put on a list for five years that stops telemarketers from being allowed to call that number. You can also accomplish this online at: www.donotcall.gov On the website you can register up to THREE phone numbers at a time. This won't GUARANTEE that telemarketers won't call (there are some "loopholes" in the law for specific cases), but you can click the "file a complaint" link on the website and go after the telemarketers who continue to bug you. Here's THAT link too: www.donotcall.gov/Complain/Com lainCheck.aspxTip Number Two: SCARY Info re "Reverse Phone Directories":I bet that the VAST majority of people have NO clue, that if they type in their area code and phone number into a typical Google search, that MOST times, your NAME will show up, your ADDRESS will show up, and, AND!! there will even be a "Map" link that will show ANYBODY in the world EXACTLY where you and your family LIVE, and, and, AND, if somebody doesn't know how to GET to your address, there's then a link where you can ask for DIRECTIONS!! AND!!!! . . . if you want an actual AERIAL view of your home, you can then go to Google Earth and get a PHOTOGRAPH of how your home LOOKS from the sky! This whole process is known as a "Reverse Phone Directory".Scary huh? . . . Most people aren't usually aware of how OFTEN we give out our phone numbers to people, particularly in stores, or as "confirmation" of things we buy, etc., etc., etc., SOOOOO if your phone number "search" on Google DOES bring up your private personal information, and you DON'T want your phone number to lead strangers directly to your home, then there's a link on GooglePhoneBook to fill out a form to remove the phone number listing, or you can simply go to this link directly at: "www.google.com/intl/en/help/p removal.html"I hope you find this info helpful in protecting the privacy of you and your families from telemarketers and total strangers!!(The song for this video, is "Operator" by Jim Croce.)

Great information. I do have a comment on the Google search help link. It's not a secure site. To get to a secure site, add an "s" to "ht tp" . Now comes the problem. If you add the s to the site you're supposed to fill out your personal information on, the page reverts to the Google home page. That tells me there is no secure way to fill out the form to remove your listing at that particular site.
