That is not what we were founded on and this is not what made our country the greatest nation in the world. What made this nation great was people being free to pursue theirown dreams. If this be the true point of our nation, what our Founding Fathers envisioned, then shouldn't government meet our most pressing needs. Yes, health care is important, but even more important than this is food. You can live without health care, but not without food. Water. The government should pay my water bill. Let's think about this for a second. I believe that means people have the right to live and to pursue their own goals with minimal interference from the government (liberty). This concept has been reversed to say that the government MUST PROVIDE the materials for our life, liberty, and happiness

...Republican take over of congress. They shut down the big government programs and BALANCED the budget. Notice that we had a balanced budget during the Clinton years not a surplus. When they say they have a balanced budget, they mean they have a budget where the outflow does not exceed the intake. It is true that Bush doubled the debt (going on tripled with the bailout) and that McCain would add to this, and this is nearly criminal, but we do not fix this problem by adding more programs...
