China represents various things in this song. As china/love is fragile and delicate...and the "cracks that don't seem to show" are glossed over by the everyday in a relationship. Also, the geographical distance between New York and China, despite "the distance getting close"....the feelings are almost tangible, yet still just out of reach. Unless the wall can be overcome....It wells me up every time, this song.

Tori said her future husband used to come and play at this exact beach. That's so romantic. I didn't know what the song meant until she explained it was about a "good" relationship with a man/father figure. Makes sense so beautiful.
