Not true actually. Once treated, a schizophrenic actually looses some of their creativity due to the medications, and some full out lose the drive to create.When untreated, a person needs an outlet and many will turn to art.

Interesting, and quite familiar. I'm a commercial artist, and slowly developed schizophrenia until the symptoms became disabling. I looked back and you can see the change in the creative outlook in my art as well, but not to this extreme.

i make a difference between psychosis and schizophrenia. psychosis usually lasts for roughly about 6 weeks - and may occur only once in a lifetime (usually an indication of a sensitive and creative mind). schizophrenia includes a lot more than just psychosis, the hallucinations, delusions and all that jazz. it comes with many other symptoms depending on the subtype of schizophrenia. ok - i don't mean to be a wise ass, but to me there's a lot of generalization in here.

to lunnifer, excuse me, but do you know what a schizophrenic is ? schizophrenia is deeper than just how things look like ! they did not explain the process in this video. they just showed an interesting symptom. and I like his works... but I never wish to be in his place !
