This tender ballad about adoption will have you reaching for a kleenex, and hopefully will make you think about adoption in a whole new way. Inspired by an interview heard on the radio with Christian recording artist Mark Schultz, this heart-wrenching song was written by Debbie L. Rice. Debbie's father was adopted, and Debbie is also the mother of a little girl adopted from China.

My adoptive mother disowned me, too, when I was 18. But after a year of encouragement from me, she changed her mind and accepted me back. People can do all kinds of horrible things out of selfishness and pain - it's not your fault.Good luck.

This is what adoption is supposed to be about, taking care of the orphaned and abandoned children, Adoption should NEVER be about a young girl having an unplanned pregnancy and trying to convince her that she should not keep her baby .Do your studies people Adoption industry is big business, remain objective and find the truth. Babies if they can should remain with their natural families, if that is not possible then adoption should be considered.I am A first mom . Thank you

Personally I don't like this way of thinking. I adopted my dtr so that we could have a child, not to "save" her or to feel good about myself. Attempting to induce pity is, well, pitiful.

I was adopted when I was 6 days old. My birthmother was only 18 and didn't feel that she could adequately care for a baby. My birthfather left her when he found out about the pregnancy. My adoptive mom writes letters to both me and my sister's birthmothers. My sister is adopted also, but we are not biologically related, by the way. Anyways, I am almost fourteen now, and when I am sixteen I plan on contacting my birth mother. I cannot wait until that day.

So sorry to hear that Shaun17170. My adopted daughter is only 11 right now so she hasn't expressed any interest in finding her biological family, but I know that time will probably come some day, and I will support her 100%. I know how it feels. My father died before we could find out the real circumstances behind his adoption...and we may never know for sure who our real grandparents are. It's a strange feeling, and I wouldn't want my daughter to live her life always wondering....-Debbie

OK - I'm adopted too...but the the consequences of now finding my biological parents have far outweighed any benefits of my relationship to my adoptive mother who now hates them all and has burned all family bridges. What is wrong with the woman? She's my mother! how can she now disown me ?Anyone else in the same boat?
