Difficult piece. A fine band. Must be a great band director and a good school system program.BTW it is flutter tonguing by the trumpets. But harder is playing stopped horn (section) in tune

good Horn section. Very difficult Horn part, but played pretty well, especially for a high school!

At 0:51, is the trumpets supposed to flutter tongue or double tongue?

Holy Cow. I can't believe what I read in these comments. Of course it's not perfect. Could Logan play this-probably. Would they play it as well Who knows? I applaud this band for playing this challenging program they chose for TMEA. As a former Band Director in TX, and a current one in CA, I will attest that there are some GREAT bands in CA, and some great programs in TX. It's MUSIC, not sports. leave the trash talk to those who don't know better. You all should.

Those criticizing the way this band played this piece should first realize that they put together this ridiculously hard piece as well as many others in a short time. They only had a short period between the end of marching season and this performance in February to put this together. I think it's a great performance by an outstanding wind ensemble.

I dont think that anyone, especially the band itself, was happy with this performance. For whatever reason it wasn't performed at the level that their other selections were. This one performance is not indicative of the overall extremely high quality that I know Langham can produce.

I would have to disagree with you on that one.

Totally! There are many great youth orchestras out there such as American Youth Symphony that would do this piece justice, including those that you mentioned.

You can find bands in Texas that can destroy Langham? I'd think that would be kind of hard considering Langham Creek is currently the 5A TMEA Honor Band. In other words, Langham Creek High School has been judged to have the best concert band in the state of Texas.

Actually, they have a pretty good excuse. The level they played this piece at is pretty amazing considering they had to prepare this as well as a lot of other hard pieces between the end of their UIL state year marching season and the TMEA clinic in February. |
