idc. none of those guys are amazing athletes. they arent that strong and they arent that fast. they are just in shape. i know marines and know cops and fire fighters. and without doing crossfit im in better shape than them and im stronger and faster and a better athletes. crossfit is not scientifically put together. its just a bunch of random crap thrown together in high reps. its gay

Also, one more thing. CF is a program originally designed for soldiers, cops, and firefighters, people who face physical challenges that are completely random but highly demanding, and they need to be prepared for anything. If you're a powerlifter, you know you're going to be doing squat, bench, and deadlifts, so it makes sense to train exactly that. Soldiers and LEO can't afford to specialize, because they have no idea what they'll be facing.

By the way, phatneazy, CrossFit is not *just* high rep, low weight work designed to build stamina. In fact it's kind of ironic that you get that impression of it, because CF's philosophy is so against doing lots and lots of long, slow aerobic training. My CF training does include some max effort lifting, at least one day a week. But like anything else, I don't focus on it exclusively.

well you guys dont understand anything about how the human body works. crossfit alone is not going to get you to be where the most powerful wrestlers and hardest strikers are. you will simply get the stamina to last the rounds. the power and explosiveness will not come from crossfit.

phatneazy...i guess it depends on your definition of "real athlete". if your talking about power lifters, then you may be right. i think "real athletes" are MMA fighters, boxers, and of course, professional soldiers...the "realest" athletes of all. this type of training is precisely the best thing for the true "real athletes".
phatneazy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
yea and if you are a normal person who wants to be more fit than the average person then crossfit is cool. but if you are a real athlete and want to be extremely strong and explosive then crossfit isnt gonna help you.

Did you not read my whole post? I'm getting stronger and faster every day with CrossFit. Two months ago I could only deadlift 325, now I deadlift 360. Within the next three months I hope to break 400. My mile time is also dropping.Of course, if you go from a powerlifting program to CrossFit, you're going to lose some strength. CrossFit never claims that it will make you as strong as a powerlifter. However, you will make considerable gains in all the other aspects of fitness, which is the point
phatneazy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
umm no. doign the lifts dont make you stronger. going from a power lifting regime to crossfit makes you weaker. you dont get more power or explosive doing high reps. just cause you do the lifts doesnt mean you are getting stronger. 360 weak. i bench that
ArentWeSpecial (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
If you got weaker and got tiny, you were doing it fucking wrong. I'm pretty confident that you're lying. How did you get weak and tiny doing deadlifts, squats, and Olympic lifts?I like being able to run a sub-6:00 mile AND deadlift 360lbs, and I'm getting faster AND stronger of CrossFit every day.
phatneazy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
yea you faggot. all i did was gain stamina but i got weaker and got tiny. crossfit is gay and if you do it so are you. if you tink its amazing you dont know anything about weights |
