If there was a cup available, the oxygen would be depleted almost immediately upon breathing. Her exhaled breath would contain mostly carbon dioxide, and would therefore be useless if inhaled more than once or twice. Great movie. Definately among my top ten.

mary elizabeth mastrontonio-she was also marian in robin hood prince of theives. great actress! have to say the abyss is one of the greatest films of all time. alongside terminator 2, this is james camerons true masterpiece. my hat also goes off to ed harris who plays the best part I've ever seen him play! Kudos!
