who would see all these and not glorify God for the works of his hands? I just wonder how heaven would be.God is real and Jesus is the way to God.

This ending to such a timeless piece I cannot describe in words. It's so magnificent which hardly scratches the surface. :)

Great. My favorite recording of Handel's Messiah is by Christopher Hogwood directing the Academy of Ancient Music and the Christ Church Cathedral Choir directed by Simon Preston with Emma Kirkby as one of the lead sopranos on the L'Oiseau Lyre label. I also like the version done by Trevor Pinnock on the Archiv label.

Actually, I think halleluja chorus is better.

My favourite song in Messiah, in my opinion even better than Hallelujah

Oh, I love that version too! The soloists are magnificent, especially Jennifer Vyvyan ( who also recorded it for Beecham's stereo version ). In fact, I think all the older Messiahs are superior to any of the newer ones. Do you know Scherchen's first version? I love that too, eccentric as it is; his AMEN moves at a snail's pace, but has incredible grandeur. Handel would have loved the big modern orchestra and full-bodied singing of the twentieth century, I think.

This is an older version, but is my favorite of all time. It is from the early 1950s, by the London Philharmonic Choir & Orchestra led by Sir Adrian Boult. Thanks for your comments.

Please tell us which performance this is; I think they get it just right. |
