Gareth45. i think your a persian due to the way you speak and disguise the spartans. You seem to be wanting revenge and are being racist. Well guess what these spartans are better than you and they would've rip ur head off your spine and toss them to the ground laughing

A similar scenario occured when the Galatians invaded Greece, but the distracting/flanking force was routed by the Aetolians, who were detached from the main body guarding the Thermopylae pass.

ummm, sorry to tell you, but the Greeks weren't the awesome fighters, the Spartans were, the Greeks were all gay (literally) so if you haven't noticed by now I have them in two different category's

Those of you that enjoy the history of thermopylae should read gates of fire. It gives a great perspective from pressfield about what it would have been like to be a spartan during this. I thought the count of monte cristo was the ultimate guys book and the best i had ever read. But Gates of fire is a must for anyone who respects what the spartans did, and i think that entails everybody (or atleast it should). Pressfield is witty and his war scenes are so vivid. Can't wait to read his othr works

Solution - leave at the very least 100,000 men to hold the Greek army in place. Send the remaining half around the Greek position. It doesn't matter if it takes days or weeks to flank...what are the Greeks going to do...come out and fight? If they run - they abandon their strong position. If they don't they are caught between two forces and destroyed. And that would have ended Greek History as we know it today...

Take this battle Termopylae, the Persian had this huge army at least 200,000+, Greeks around 7,000 but a strong defensive position. Hmm...it doesn't take a military genius to see the solution (if you happen to be the Persians).

Wow...I love history. I love military history. But one thing is always certain most victories are because they loser is just plain out-smarted. |
