he was as big as elvis in his hay day without a doubt. Dont understand why people dont play his music anymore. More famous people have done alot more than what he has done but still get their music celebrated

I disagree. In the 1970s Glitter had a mixed audience. Most were teenage kids (boys as well as girls) but he still had a healthy following in their 20s and 30s. By the 1990s, he retained his original fans and younger people of that era also became a substantial part of his audience.I don't find to call what he did "art" ridiculous at all. To me, it's more artistic than anything "serious" acts have done.

Thanks for the lecture. As brieouttabham said its only Glam Rock and it was pretty light weight rubbish when it came out,Music for fourteen year old school girls to scream at.The pop of the early seventys thats all,not Art,its ridiculous to call it that.Glitter wasn't a bad musician,he just wasn't a musician!He was just a singer with a gimmic in the right place at the right time.

its a fair debate. the 1984 thing is a bit crass but people still applauding or celebrating his music should be censored due to the vile crime committed but also because of the associated power/influence of celebrity. also people who are exponents/supporters of genocide, rape, or murder. the problem is where do you draw the line? i think maybe townsend and sid vicous got away with stuff partly because of the high plaudits given to their music.

I know hes a pedophile but his act is amazing and I always brings a smile to my face, its so cheesy and over the top and the guitar licks are awesome.

No problem. Your refusal to even listen to other glam rock artists goes a long way to explaining your narrow-minded point of view. So, Gary Glitter MUST be a bad musician, because you regard him as "a bloody perv". Do you even realise how ridiculous it is to judge art on the morals of its creator? That was very popular with the Nazis, in case you didn't know.
