I'm a huge fan of JN and this performance would probably be amongst my favourites if the intonation was better. Alas, rather too much is on the flat side. Still, the tonal control is amazing.

I love you, Jessye, but your Delilah, at least the Delilah SAINT-SAENS had in mind when he was writing this aria,is not good.I'm tempted to quote here the hilarious post someone wrote about the Olga Obratsova Delilah:"C'est pas Dalila en fait, c'est un Sergent chef de l'armée rouge. Les cheveux de Samson sont tombés tout seuls lorsqu'elle a ouvert la bouche. Garde à vous !!!!!! "

WOW. That was absolutely unreal. She made this aria her own. And yay for big voices!! They're making a comeback.

Oeliesi, oui,vous avez raison complet. Avez vous ecoute Jessye Norman's cd Carmen? Sa voix est magique.lemagnificant, it is brave of you to admire JN's performance. Most Callas fans would shoot out your knee caps for that!As always,the rich qualitry of her voice and great skill make a sublime sound. Great Vid!

Too slow for my taste but the whole thing is simply extraordinary:her french ,the way she sustains the line and then that voice's color!!Unique experience,Brava miss Norman!!

Quelle voix et quelle présence !! Elle est habitée par le personnage de Dalila. Elle procure une émotion incroyable par sa voix et son expression. Elle peut chanter sans aucun soucis les graves tout comme les aigus. Elle a une voix profonde,pleine et splendide ! Mme Jessye Norman, vous êtes une Diva extrêmement talentueuse ! J'en pleure encore !!!
