Rives is absolutely amazing. The way he uses words to play with ideas is incredible. I want to see him live.

Rives is just about as cool as it gets with spoken word.

Overly repeated hand motion! He is allowing his words to flow through his limbs, to express to those of us who "feel" what he says. One doesn't usually see the poet, just reads the words. Rives "overly repeated hand motion" is part of his delivery, and to me makes his poems all the more amazing.

when people move their hands its natural human nature to overt your attention directly to them. thats why ever president does it when he speaks, or anyone for that matter.

woops, i was wrong. it's not the actual sign for a flying bird, but that's what it's supposed to represent.

Rives is fluent in ASL. the repeated hand motion is the sign for a flying bird. it's the mocking bird repeating the sounds it learned. |
