they have all the hallmarks of a punk band, i suppose they probably are a punk band, what i was trying to say was that they never TRIED to be a punk band.

hey bro I never said I was a punk and what I mean is if you say your a punk your not one cause your just trying to get some attention and the same with people who try to look like a hardcore punk cause those are the posers. Now for the ones who don't really work that hard to look like one or say there one to get attention and show there one with their actions I'm guessing are one thats all I mean.

anyone that says there punks are a bunch of posers because they might look like one or say there one, but thats all they do nothing else really, but for the music thats cosidered punk rock ......its some damn good music. SKA is a little better though. thats just what i think haha.

Actually, you're wrong. The phrase "punk rock" was coined in the liner notes of a music compilation called "Nuggets". The Stooges, as many other punk predecessors such as the Mc5, The Fugs, The Holy Modal Rounders, were known as "freak out" bands, because they played raw electric folk. Punk was born from the Lower East Side of New York City, by anarchistic squatters. Punk just means inexperienced, or that you don't need any experience. Anyone can do it, and that's what makes it so remarkable.

the pistols weren't the first punk band, the first band to be called punk were the stooges, in a review they were insulted by being called "punk rock", its where the phrase comes from.
