I don't think it's possible for any film to do complete justice to Orwell. But they did a good job of it anyway.

It's 'comrades' in the novel, but I think brother and sister work much better.

Seriously, this movie was made in 1984. They even mention that at the end of the movie.

That is rubbish. You don't get tortured and shot for denying global warming. And, by and large, the main players opposing the warming idea are politicians, rich corporations and land-owners. The scientists, who have no real power, are on the other side. The US grassroots opposition are ALL self-identifying right-wingers who reflexively oppose everything seen as "liberal" concepts. They oppose by default. It is a fascinating thing that Orwell has the power to be all things to all people.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I'd like to live in Airstrip One. Free alarm call + exercise. Gin for breakfast. Free food. Watch lots of telly. Also, you don't have to use so many words to say stuff. Saves time and bother. OK, there's a couple of down sides to any dictatorship, but overall, Winston's got it pretty sweet if you ask me!

I think they do that to emphasize how Big Brother is still their 'brother' just like everyone else.
