Though I've used CFL for over 13 years and they are great energy savers, it is not up to congress and the EPA to dictate their use. Simply cutting your energy bill in half was enough for me but it should be your choice. Get Government of of my life. For the people not to the people.

CF lightbulbs are crap for reading. Just like *all* flourescent lightbulbs, they grow slowly dimmer over time.

It took a couple of decades longer, but it looks like Orwell's vision of 1984, is coming true. "Big Brother" now dictates what kind of light bulb we must use!Good for Reps like Mr. Poe! We need more people with sense in congress!

Eh, they will have pics of them in books at the schools. Unless congress makes books illegal because it requires you to cut down a tree.

I use the damn things too hell, I like them I ain't had to replace the one in my room since I bought it 2 years ago, but your missing the point. The point is that the government, not the light bulb companies is regulating what is being produced and what we are allowed to buy. They are taking away the few shreds of freedom we have left.

God bless Ted Poe. Finally someone who says what needs to be said--government regulation in all aspects has turned into a Joe Francis-type franchise--government gone wild!

The philosophical issues are more important than issues of practicality. My government has no constitutional authority to regulate this aspect of trade. Nothing else needs to be said. They are breaking their contract with the American people.

You say Americans have to use these globes by 2014, you're slow, we have to use them by 2010 here in Australia where I live, this guy is taking things too far, I already use these globes in my house and have had no problems with them. Who cares if the globes aren't mad in the USA, my CFL's are made in China, but I don't care as long as they work. If it weren't for Thomas Edison, we wouldn't have CFL's. Calm Down and actually use one of these globes, you won't regret it. |
