No, that's the point, her sync rate was so high that she managed to reactivate and move it on will alone, and everything that happened to it happened to her.

Only because of the fragile nature of a colony. An EVA has an AT field, purpose built armor plating, and high agility.

well, did u c episode 2? berserker mode. Gainax has no big explanation about it, but it just happens when the eva unit and the children are in deep shit, i guess :P well, the thing is that the sync rate goes up all the way (shinji got 400 i guess, cant remember very well) so they can continue fighting without the umbilical cable, since the eva is an angel as well, i guess tat it has it's own energy

para mi la mejor pelea en evangelion y tambien la mejor personaje definitivamente me encanta asuka es tan genial y de k manera pelea hasta el final

bad ending(for asuka),huh??? especially the pieces of body from 02 in the mouth of EVA series in the end...
