Take into consideration that Runway 27 at SAN has an 1,800+ foot displaced threshold for landing purposes. The third set of piano keys is probably about 1/2 mile from where they started their take-off roll.

The 757's were designed to replace the 727. Fly fast climb fast yet conserve fuel over the 727. Amazing aircraft, one of the fastest commercial jets on the market. Unfortunate that out of production though. Awesome video!!

The engines are Pratt & Whitney PW4000s. GE does not make an engine for the 757. Some 757s are powered by PW (United, NWA, etc.) while others are powered by RR (American, etc.)
