Steve Vai alone is far more superior guitarist than Slash. Im not even mentioning Satch and Gilbert and John Petrucci. The best solo of Slash is nowhere near For The Love of God or Lotus Feet. The way how clean and perfectly Vai plays live is breathtaking, Slash however... Yeah whatever, at least he is famous eh? Also, ever heard slash using whammy and tapping? Steve Vai = Superior.

The whole argument about "who is better" has always been a waste of time to me. When you start comparing musicians of that caliber to one another, it basically comes down to personal opinion. And what does "better" mean anyways? It's totally subjective. To one person it might mean playing fast, to another with feel, to another being versatile. To me, all I care about is if they can rock on record/ and or live. If someone can do that, that's what it's about to me.

I agree with you, but the point I'm trying to make here is that is pointless to compare who's better this or that guitarist, because it is a very personal opinion. It is also unfair to say that someone is overrated considering technical issues, because most of the crowd isn't interested on that at all, only musicians are, and the most valuable opinion about music is always from people who doesn't know about technical stuff and are focused just on enjoy it.

Agreed with the scales part, however after looking at all the comments posted its an argument between us who's a better guitarist right? Well taking that into consideration, lets put argument into fact. James hetfield is a Singer/Guitarist. Slash however plays lead. Do you see where im getting? Therefor a fair argument would be Axle Rose vs James Hetfield it would be a different story. Exactly the same principle with Fairness!!!

I always thought Slash was a very solid player. He had some interesting rhythms, and I don't need to say anything about his awesome solos.

You are wrong, but anyways, let's assume that what you say is true; just with blues scales he can do all what he does, and sound the way he sounds, and have that unique style. Paul Gilbert, Satriani, Steve Vai, and many like them know thousands of "scales" and none of them is bigger than Slash. What's next? Jimi Hendrix is also overrated? Come on. |
