No it's called silence of the lambs because Foster told Hopkins she hears lambs screaming in her sleep (because of a traumatic experience in her youth). She thinks these nightmares will stop if she catches Buffalo Bill.

This movie is called like this because it means that lambs are very innocent and they keep their silence. Maybe somebody in the movie is a lamb and knows something but stays quiet.

God, this is a great film. Foster and Hopkins were brilliant. I believe they both won Oscars for this and it won best picture. Well deserved.

Because when Clarice solves the case of Cathrine Martin and finds her it silences her nighmare of the lambs, because when she was younfer shad saw/heard on awful experience with lambs. And in one scene Dr. Lectar askes "Do you think if you find poor Cathrine, when you wake up in the dark, you will stop hearing the creams of the lambs. And since she did, well you get it:-)
