yea, while halo 3 was a blast, I don't think bungie accomplished their mission of making brutes scary. Even on legendary, hammer chieftens could often be outsmarted due to their charging mentality. In halo 2, I felt like brutes would swarm you more with medium range weapons like carbines, but would go into beserk mode more often. This made you want to close to gap to avoid being gunned down, but weary due to their melee prowess. in halo 3 they just kind of take punishment and throw grenades :/
