People who keep saying this is Frank's song are narrow minded. this song was a french song (Le Mer)rewritten by Jack Lawrence and published in 1946 and sung by many artists including Harry James, Percy Faith and Benny Goodman but was sung by them in a slow ballad style many artists performed it after but as Jack Lawrence even said himself it was Bobby's original style that created such a huge hit out of it when he released it in 1959

"Tommy Sands," used as substitute lyrics in the beginning, is a joking reference to Nancy Sinatra's husband of 5 years, from 1960 to 1965. Sands, born in 1937 is a singer and actor.
