These guys had no idea how popular this film would become.

Ebert is usually on target but I had to disagree with him. I loved this movie...I think ebert is just a part of the small percentage that "didn't get it". This film is, at least I think, Burton's greatest film to date. Many have tried to come close but none have succeeded.Edward Scissorhands is fairy tale perfection.

Tim Burtons has incredible visual impact, but I agree with Roger Ebert. This story has been told so many times over..Frankenstien, Hutchback,..etc....the only difference is the visuals....that simply isnt enough....THUMBS DOWN

They hit the nail on the head- this movie is a colossal pile of steaming dog shit.

It's a Tim Burton / Johnny Depp film, not a Disney movie. This movie wasn't made to be a Cinderella story. This movie is beautiful and everyone but those two see it.

I saw this film for the first time when I was 10 years old and I credit it for opening my eyes to people with differences. This movie changed my life and my heart and I will always look at it as a masterpiece.

This is a beautiful film with a great big heart. I can't believe that Ebert could trash this film so harshly.

The first 2, maybe 3 times I saw the film, I would have been inclined to agree with them- it always felt strangely empty to me. However, that is because it's not a film that can be taken at face value,as they and anyone else who has only seen it once will do. There's more to Edward than his being an outsider; the other traits just aren't obvious as say, having scissors for hands. They require introspection. And if you fail to see that, well then, you sirs frankly fail at being film critics. |
