He has the Masamune equipped to give him the first turn and uses !Sing. Then on his next turn, he uses a Mix that makes the enemy considered as a Dragon type enemy. The damage comes from !Sword Dance(x4 Damage) and the guaranteed critical hits against Dragons from Dragon Lances. The low damage is due to his levels since it'd do more at higher levels.The song he constantly sings inflicts Stop.

Yeah but Dawn of souls got all the random bosses from Final Fantasies III, IV, V, and VI. The Earthgift Shrine houses Two-Headed Dragon, Ahriman, Echidna, and Cerberus from FFIII;Hellfire Chasm is home to Scarmiglione, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia, and Rubicante from FFIV;Lifespring Grotto within dwells Gilgamesh, Atomos, Omega, and Shinryu = FFVAnd Finally, Typhon, Orthros, Phantom Train, and Death Gaze call Whisperwind Cove there home, all from FFVI.

Bosses don't give you exp and with the quick save you can skip all random encounters.
