Great clip - thanks for posting! I love this tune - have heard Harold Mabern play it w/ Eric Alexander (it's also on one of Eric's albums) but it's great to see Mr Mabern playing it w/ Lee Morgan way back then... He (Mabern) told me the song was written about a friend of one of his children.

Awesome footage. Lee was only starting to find his chops back to full power in the final few years of his life. A shame Morgan was never able to harness his new direction of music such as this. His music was always full of swing and retained that sense of coolness and macho. |
