Slide film is normally processed in an E-6 process where it comes out positive, but you can run it through the regular wal-mart c-41 machine and it will turn out more contrasty, and with the colours shifted. This is what they usually mean by "cross processed". You can also run normal film through e-6 chemistry and you'll get lower contrast and a bit different shift in colour, but cross processing slide film is usually more attractive.

large format film cameras are still being used quite alot,since digital backs for them start at $100k atleast,digital is only popular when its small format (135/35mm format)but film has risen in demand once again,i shoot everyday, its my job so yeah
