Macs are expensive, but you can save several hundred dollars if you install more RAM yourself. Here's how to do it with a MacBook Pro.

Strong work on the vid! Elegant even. I have been trying to find info on how to insert arrows and graphic pointers on a video in iMovie. I think you used that @ 1:10 in the vid. How'd you do it? Also, how'd you get the fast play at the end? Much obliged.

I'd be careful on not buying apple ram. cheap ram may run hotter. I bought cheap ram for my mini and it would run the fan on high all the time to deal with the heat. I was pissed off that my mini wasn't quiet anymore.

You don't have to use Apple branded ram. I would suggest OWC memory... found @ macsales

Do you have to used Apple branded ram? or will any RAM with the right type and speed work? Thanks.

there is also a difference in the graphics card which is 512 in the 2.5 version and only 256 in the 2.4. also the 2.4 only has 3 MB cache istead of 6 and has 50GB storage. so with all that said, there is a difference

No, you couldnt put 16GB of ram in. The maximum that the Macbook Pro will recognise is 4GB, and this is the same for the newer MacBook models
