Unfortunately I never got to see Horowitz play, so thanks for clearing up any misconceptions about him playng with flat fingers. I wonder how his hands compared to Rachmaninoff, as he had huge hands as well

Well Horowitz has to play with flat fingers because his hands are so big, the smaller the more curve your fingers will have.

What an idiot! He had a heart attack in his living room and died; the sole reference is true in so far as it was the last thing he ever said.

Yes Rubenstein always tended to play with flat fingers which I find most surprising, yet he does it extremely well. And in this video vliip he wasnt a youngster by any means.

I wish I knew how to transcribe these videos into MPEG or even MPG. I have to software programs VideoPiggy and Free Music Downloader which I think might do the job. Have had time to explore the possibilities with Downloader, But what I have done is record all of my favourites onto cassette tapes and then taken them to be put onto CD. But thats here in Australia where I had it done so now I have over four hours of non stop classical and ragtime on a 4GB CD !!! |
