also to add that most americans don't know that HK used to be part of UK for 137 years.

for those HK ppl who say they are better than the mainlanders, sorry to tell you that most westerners view HK just another city in "china", that's right HK is just another commie place in china. so there's no point in telling everyone how you are diff. from chinese, because most americans would just tell you to "free tibet" and "go back to china".

let me add hong kong has a 50 year sovereignty after 1997 meaning they can keep their identity, this includes in olympic games, statistics, and of course an entityif u think thats not enough ur saying ur a country which is very very not acceptableit is nearing to traitorjust my 2c
Crapidiot (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
because it is a city. it is already past 1997. all chinese cities need to cave in chinese interests because thats how the world countries run.....u cant be selfishi regard myself as both chinese and hkonese if i was a hongkonger local, not separated.like how los angeles ppl are americansthere really isnt anything to argue here. the only thing is the effect of identity problems due to history

i never deny that hk is a city and a part of china. but why should we(hongkong, a city) have always give way to china(a country)'s interest?my opinion is that if there is an interest or political conflict between HK & china,i would stand on HK's side and support HK cuz im firstly HKese, then chinese, and im askin' HKese to firstly support HK, then china.

"thinking a nation is bigger than a city, china is bigger than hk, so hkese have to give away to nation's interest. "but arent u a city, even before the 1880s?whats wrong with having identity and being a part of china. i dont see anything bad about it. most ppl think u guys are traitors for a reason. there are better cities out there that are glad to be part of the country because it represents the homeland. otherwise just like people personality its not very loyal and good

hongkong wellcomes friendly ppl as u, who loves hk more than china! u know, some mainland immigrators who though living in hk, his heart is still in china. when there is interest or political conflict between hk and china, they will always stand on china's side, always complaining hk and hkese not patriotic enough, thinking a nation is bigger than a city, china is bigger than hk, so hkese have to give away to nation's interest.
