this guy is the best ever if you go by records and 2 some 1 said he has no rythem bs when you intergrate progresive and speed metal its not a noteisable rythem unless you no what to look for and have the skill to put the rythem together yourself all the other good rythem drummers dont get progresive in music but they can put speed in there stuff just no true progretion in it

Holy Hell. I wouldn't have any clue what to do with that many cymbals. I don't know what is a bigger bitch: Rosie O'Donnel or trying to transport that entire drum set to multiple gigs.

wow, that's stunning. He has both the technique and the speed to do insane stuff. And he manages to keep it intresting (most drumsolo's get boring at some point -_-). Also worth to notice this was 2 years back.

it seems likederek has the will to do more than metal obviously, and has fully recognized the concepts of rhythm and groove, he has the skills but not the chops, his technique is way to choppy, he to spend a good amount of months on strickly grooving, and not just bust it out every once in a while.

Well, this video was taken '06 so i think he already improved somehow right? I'll give credit to you guys but I dunno...I just love Derek..can anyone here do any better than him? They're all great musicians and they have different styles in playing shit. It's not a competition of who's the best. They are all great.
