the progression of the song is actually G C G D and repeat. hes right tho, its a good song to start learning when you first pick up a banjo. He added a little flare to it, sounds nice.

First real full bluegrass song everyone learns, and no other song is so useful for improvisation. You can slip the first 8 measures into any song, and they work perfectly.
