The word bacon comes from the german and means back ham. Francis bacon did not invent bacon.

His most famous work is his interpretation of Valesquez' painting of Pope Innocent X. It always reminded me of the paintings on the TV horror show "Night Gallery"!

Francis bacon invented bacon in 1946 and the tasty pork product was then named after him. What a genius. and "3 studies for figures at the base of a crucifixion" wasn't bad either....
