There is a full-length movie about this, historically researched including what the soldiers in the trenches did after that one Christmas, called "Joyeux Noel." from 2005.

I met John McCutcheon when I was a kid. He played music with a family friend.

I heard this song for the first time some months ago. I knew it was based on a real event in history, but I had no idea there are photographs of the event. This is a message that needs to be heard around the world. MAY PEACE PREVAIL ON EARTH!

A wonderful twist: What if they gave a war, and people came BUT REFUSED TO SHOOT? Or again: a bayonet is a weapon with a worker on either end. These brave men deserved a medal for - no joke - disobeying orders. Well done! |
