Diesel is near $5.00/gal. You only need some bag filters, which cost about $5-$10 a piece, and can be cleaned and reused many times, at least 2 metal barrels (metal so hot grease from the fryer can be poured in), an electric or manual pump, and a conversion kit which you could put together on your own for about $700. It requires only one filtering through a 10 micron or smaller filter, and it is ready for use. If you're willing to give a little more of yourself, you can do this.

These solvents are all BS. Most of them contain gasoline, which should never be run in a diesel engine. VO must be heated before being injected into the engine, or else your diesel will meet a premature demise.

Kudos to you for acting on behalf of the environment. However, if you continue to run your car this way, you will destroy the most expensive part of your engine: the injector pump. You should do it the right way and heat up the VO before injecting it.

The fuel you burn has nothing to do with the turbocharger. Turbocharged engines' heads and blocks are made with a harder alloy and therefore more heavy duty than naturally aspirated engines. Your diesel is getting 48-50mpg burning filthy diesel fuel. Your mpgs are virtually unaffected when burning VO. People do it because it's cleaner and it's free. Biodiesel, which is simply VO with the glycerin exracted so it is less viscous, will actually clean out all the crap that diesel fuel deposits

I wanna do this in my car however just worried that after buying everything and then setting everything up it would require so much filtering that is wont even be worth it.
