There is just no way to compare these two. Klaus Nomi would sing this piece with so much feeling and emotion. He truly understood this piece of music, and in late 82, he could scarcely draw his breath himself, which made his version incomparable.

to the obvious fact that he had not yet read the partition the violins decided to play in a upper tempo no? He seams also half disturbed by that.

This singer may have the range for it, but that's it. He certainly didn't have the feeling, as evidenced by the way he raced through the aria. That made it somewhat appalling actually, as it's a very emotive song.
