ben west - sacred headwaters rally - smithers
Green Party of BC Leadership candidate Ben West shows his support for the local residents working to proposed coal bed methane drilling in the skeena watershed. The region that Royal Dutch Shell (formerly shell canada) intends to "develop" is a sadred headwater for local aboriginal communities.Three major BC rivers flow out of the headwater, providing clean water and salmon for countless people. The salmon alone is said to provide 110 million dollars into the local economy annually. This ecologically sensitive area is said to be one of the last untouched territories of woodland caribou as well as other wildlife.Ben West, spoke at the bbq held after the rally from a rooftop.
