I was 11 when it happened and lived, breathed and spoke sports. Obviously I didn't know much about anything at that age, but I remember how widespread the coverage was and what a big story it was. We didn't have cable and so I guess it was all Len Bias coverage all the time. Imagine if he'd have played with Parrish, a rickety McHale, the creaky Walton......RIP Len.

Maybe he would have been one of the best NBA players to ever play the game.Maybe he would have been amazing with Bird and McHale on the Celtics. But we will never know what would have really happened. This is sad, and a major tradgedy..

According to his coaches and the students who knew him in Maryland, Len Bias was a HABITUAL cocaine user. They testifed this during court when Bias's parents filed a lawsuit against companies (Reebeok, Advantage International, Lloyds Insurance Underwriters) that had contracts with Bias. BTW his parents did lose the court case.

Bias was undoubtably amazing, but come on - for anyone to say he would have been better than Jordan or was better than Lebron is now is a bit far-reaching. He could have folded under the NBA pressure, he could have been injured, he could have just not played well at the NBA level at all. As the saying goes..woulda, shoulda, coulda. Didn't.

Bias would have been better than Jordan in the NBA, he would be playing along side Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, what a team that would have been

I was 19 when Len died and I mean I was in major shock. He was my favorite athlete EVER! I remember being 17 in 1984 and we were tossing the football around down on the field at Byrd Stadium after a Maryland Football game and the Maryland Basketball team was running laps around the track. I stood there in awe watching Len run effortlessly gliding like a Thoroughbred race horse. He looked unbelievably big and powerful as he ran, I remember seeing him that day like it was yesterday. What a tragedy
