It's humorous but, simultaneously, debatable and incorrect. In the most literal of senses: if your lifespan is 100 years, then at 25 you are 1/4th dead. Every human being is technically dying over time. Saying 1/4th dying wouldn't make grammatical sense in that context, and you'd have to say "dead" because it's a past tense that already happened. Also, unique is also a state which can be qualified and it's an adjective whereas dead is a noun, and adjectives can also be qualified.

Witajcie ludzie! Wczoraj czytałem tu coś o "Referral Code" JUSTMORE na Fulltiltpoker com i w końcu się z sukcesem zarejestrowałem! Funkcjonuje ten kod także gdzie indziej i czy również jest możliwość otrzymania bonusu w wysokości 600 dolarów? Proszę o prędką pomoc, ponieważ wiem, że takie kody na ogół są ważne tylko krótki czas! Dzięki, Mark

Wow, you have better knowledge of the English language than me, and that is saying somthing. However, i'm 15 and you're...I would say your age but I can't be bothered to check your profile so I shall just say older, and due to this age gap it is only to be expected.

I just purchased a new Ford Focus which, according to the owner's manual, is equipped with an ultra-clean-burning engine that meets California's "PZEV" standards. PZEV stands for "Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle." Question: How can anything be a partial zero? That's like being partially pregnant!

Actually the apostrophe followed by the letter S has long been accepted as the plural form for abbreviations, acronyms and single characters, e.g. "those girls are perfect 10's" or "Dr. Jones and Dr. Smith are MD's (or M.D.'s)."

That is my biggest grammatical pet peeve and the only thing I'll go grammar nazi on...

Isn't unique an 'absolute' rather than 'binary'. Binary means to consist of or involve two (things, concepts, numbers). An absolute word like unique would only be binary if you included its meaning and the absence of its meaning: unique or not unique, which would be silly. A word with two meanings, such as 'asinine', could be called binary; but that still sounds odd to me. |
