Now I can see why Spelling picked Joan Collins to play Alexis on Dynasty. She was already playing her in these ads. Alexis was a real sophisticate!

Very funny. I grew up on these ads too. Joan Colins all I can say is what a gorgeous woman! Incidentally, both the crew and Directors of these ads said that Rossiter was extremely pompous off camera, he even refered to Collins as 'the prop' whilst she was extremely down to earth and aimiable.....

Aaaaah the late great Leonard Rossiter. I used to love watching "the fall and rise of reginald perrin". Arguably his most memorable role (unless you prefer rising damp).

The airline one really deserves its reputation as one of the great comedy ads. The way Joan seems to have avoided the inevitable splash and the look one her face when Leonard puts her chair back. |
