This is a beautiful plane. Probably my favorite Russian plane. Actually the Raptor speed is still somewhat of a classified secret. They post it as Mach 2+. Depending on the source the speeds are different. Plus the super cruise speed. Also keep in mind combat configuration limits a lot of the tricks you see here. More so on this jet than the Raptor with internal weapons. That being said, this is still a beautiful plane. Any aviation buff would love seeing this plane. I like all different types

OK, it flies all right, but the SU-35 is faar more impressive.

very beautiful plane

So right

Hehe agreed. It's usually the more "economic" jets that get the succes. F16 I believe may be the prime example of that in more modern ages. However the expensive jets are cool but often it's still they older ones acting workhorses. Hehe I'm still amused they took the A-10 back into service eventhough they retired it orignally - USAF doesn't seem to get a replacement as rugged, durable and with the same considerable amount of loiter-time above the battlefield.

I believe newer models have thrust vectoring to improve high-speed maneuverability. Mig-29 and F-16 are my favorite planes. US shouldn't waste all our money making over performing turkeys like the F-22. who are we trying to out gun? Russia China? Last I checked, we were all on the same sides.

They are indeed. But clock is still ticking... you don't bleed of speed if not nessescary. The MiG 29 have a better maneuvreability at around 800mph than most jets, at that speed it can outmaneuvre the F16, however that's why F16 usually fly faster because at near supersonice speeds (mid trans-sonic) the F16 is the more agile aircraft.I know the MiG29OVT is a different animal now but some of the aerodynamics it still retains.Danish F16's regulary train with german MiG29's.

manouverablity of this aircraft no way inferior to others
shudra14 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
actually this shows that ruggedness of airframe to undergo immense pressure of high g

Mig-29s are very fast. 1,518mp/h or Mach 2.4 with a climb rate of over 65,000 ft/min, so I'm pretty sure it can easily recover what ever speed it bleeds off. This is impressive considering that the F-22's top speed is actually lower than the Mig-29s by about 20mp/h, which matters a lot in a live-die stiution. |
