I think Fearnstarr is right, I think Byrne is jealous of Jones greater musical talent and brilliant methods of songcraft. Why he plagarised him.

I heard Tom Jones wanted to put his original version on the new guitar hero. But David Byrne wouldn't let him becuase he holds the copyright to this song, having bought the rights off tom jones when he did this cover. I think thats mean, as I would have loved to have played this track.
