On CNN's the situation room, Jack Cafferty struck a somber tone after the House passed legislation that includes a war crimes immunity clause. He rightfully asks, "what are we becoming?" video and transcript info can be downloaded at Crooks and Liars: http://www.crooksandliars.com/...

So if I had phone sex with the first lady and my phone was wiretapped, would Bush send the Secret Service after me? These are the questions.

Words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen the enunciation of truth. And the truth is: There is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?

did this bill pass? I never heard if it did

I mean, I understand that he wants to pardon himself in his own country from any further charges, but the war crimes act is so vague that the international courts should pick up the offender long before he is able to break the war crimes act...maybe I'm just being idealistic of our international law system
DaPunk666 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
What confuses me is that the Geneva convention and all of that is international law, so passing this bill in this country is basically moot, because an international committee would have to take responsibility for carrying out the sentencing and sentence. The U.N. would be the only body I'd see having the ability to do anything about this, but they are so corrupt, I'm surprised bush's even worried enough to try to pass a bill about it. Confusing indeed. Did this ever pass? It's been over a year.

Bush did break many laws, if he is a puppet, then he should still be charged and everyone who went along with this illiegal war, especially mr. woo, who the fuck does he think he was, above the whole entire DOJ???

Bas, Saddam was supported to grab power, in a democracy(!), by the CIA, because he was controlable. The same with the colonels in Greece, the Sjah in Persia, or Pinochet in Chili. The CIA doctrine was to rather have a pro US dictatorship than a 'Wild'democracy.
MaxSluiman (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Bas, I agree with you on this one. Bush was put forward as a strawman. He works for the interests of big corporations. The same counts for Hitler. They use a poor, undereducated, selfesteemless(and thus nationalistic) mob for their purposes.
