That's a little bit ridiculous, putting a warning on things that have been retouched. It would have to be put on everything! No image in any commercial magazine has not been retouched.

Why stop at photoshop? Why not ban make-up, wonderbras, hair-straighteners etc as well? Do they not distort perfection too? Image manipulation has been around since the first photograph was taken. Videos like this which make sweeping generalisations are damaging.

First of all if your kid looks to total strangers as to what they should then perhaps the parents arent doing their job. The problem with people like the host is that because certain people can't handle reality. As a society we really need to grow up and stop making everyone else responsible for the way WE FEEL! My mom and dad taught me what was more important in life and thus, I didn't need to read a magazine or look at someone I don't know to tell me who and what I should be.

it's not going to change what people think. men already know those photos are retouched. almost every photo now is retouched!

then those people are just crazy.

What makes me mad is that the media is always calling perfectly healthy sized people fat, like B spears and Jennifer Love Hewwit. THAT makes girls get eating disorders, not models. Also photo shop just make pretty people slightly prettier, not as pretty people would still feel insecure. It doesnt do that much, these people are making it sound like photoshop can turn the wicked witch of the west into snow white.

Hahahahahaha, putting a warning on digitally retouched images.People where tetouching images to influence way before photoshop or digital photography, and this is not the worst way it has been used. Not even at all. If americans have weight issues and need to sell hope to there people, and then serve it with extra chips that sounds like there own issue. Dont blame it on the progress of photography, paintings/sulptures of beautiful nudes of super beautiful women have been created since tribal days.

My point is not about makeup or the other things different to editing software. Not just the magazines but the people themself should post a comment in edited photos by software, whether photoshop or something else. And you are right to say that parents and individuals should be more assertive to teach good judgement, but we're not islands, we live in community and we are always influenced by the system and society.

According to this paradigm you'd need to put a warning label on those who wear make up, acrylic nails, wigs, or get plastic surgery. You can alter someones actual appearance just as much as altering a photo. Remember Michael Jackson's "Thriller"? People make their own choices, they aren't forced to be stupid. It should be up to individuals and parents to teach good judgment. The information and resources available to us these days gives us no excuse to say "we didn't know". Do your homework.
