I am sorry that you didn't find your birth more comfortable, I am glad that it helped you stay calm. There are big differences between hypnosis for childbirth programs. I am not sure which one you used. I used HypnoBirthing for my 2nd birth and found it helpful for part of my birth. I used Hypnobabies for my 3rd birth (this video) and was comfortable for the whole birth. Congrats on your baby!

Unfortunately my hypnobirthing experience that I practised from the moment of conception was longer and more painful than my first, even though I was utterly convinced it would work and was shocked when I felt pain. I was a little calmer though. I am so glad it works for other people though!

My fiance and I are planning on having a baby and I want to be prepared and everything.I was wondering how do hypnosis help you out with labor?

Great video. I am 30wks pregnant and doing the Hypnobirthing course in the UK. Going for a VBAC this time with minimum intervention. Doctors stay away with your syntocin, morphine and scalpels. Leave me with the midwives. I CAN DO IT MYSELF!!

pain level would be 1- really no pain. But pressure and intensity would probably be 8. So it was intense and powerful, but not painful for me.

It's interesting to read the comments here about pushing = pain. I didn't feel pain with pushing and crowning. I was vocalizing "ahhh" loudly and above anything it just felt weird to me, but pushing actually felt good. Don't get me wrong, it was intense, but I didn't scream my head off. My mom said it was funny because the way I talked with my OB during pushing was calm like I was sitting across a desk from him. I even changed the track on my MP3 player in-between pushing contractions.

I just gave birth to my first child 6/13/08 (8 lb, 4 oz) and I used the HypnoBabies program as demonstrated in this video. I had a completely natural birth and was only in labor for about 7 hours. My labor went pretty much like this and I would not say that I ever really felt pain, just intense discomfort at times, but never actual pain. I had my doubts about this program working but it did for me and I have convinced many others that this can and does work for many women if you believe it will.
