In the 19th century we had the Yellow Press and I guess now we've got a plethora of tabloid news programs that either exaggerate hot-button issues for ratings, or are grossly partisan (posing as impartial).If we have confidence in the average citizen, we must belive he's able to sort through the BS and make the right choices most of the time.I'm just getting tired of the hyperbole. Calling people "fascists" and "dictators" when the term doesn't really apply.

I think Cafferty is using a bit of hyperbole when he says we're in a "full dictatorship." Cut Jack some slack. He just wants us to be on our toes so we don't slip into a police state where everything you do is monitored.

I will contribute to the bailout fund if Henry (Hank) Paulson — U.S. Treasury Secretary, former Goldman Sachs CEO, and all-around bald guy ponies up the $200 million in capital gains tax he was exempt from having to pay. It seems Hank made a bundle from 2003 to 2006 and did not have to show Uncle Sam the money. I made around $17,776 during the same period and though I have already paid Uncle Sam, I would cough in a few more bucks if Hank throws up, err in, his $200 million.

habs: And regarding my arrogance, that's your opinion. But even if I am arrogant...it doesn't mean my points are incorrect. I stand by my original position which is that I know a LOT about 20th century history and Jack's comments are grossly irresponsible and indicative of the "fear mongering" so many political hacks engage in.Better listen to Jack closely, get frightened to death, and then go vote for Obama...because he'll "save" the world. What nonsense!

habs: My comment applies to nazi germany as well as WWII in general. I've read 3 bios of Hitler as well as bios on Himmler, Goering, Goebbels, Ribbontrop. Also, MANY books about the 3rd Reich and the holocaust.And if you want to say there are some similarities, I can't argue with that. Name one nation on earth that doesn't have SOME similarities to nazi germany...or stalinist russia for that matter.IMO any similiarities are nominal and Jack's mentioning them for rank political purposes.

We're not talking about WW2... Am I right in this? You don't understand the comparison, because NO ONE is saying we're exactly like Nazi Germany, just that people like Jack are starting to see some similarities, which really, cannot be denied. I don't really care how many books you've read to be honest. It simply doesn't matter, they could've all been Curious George books for all I know, and for all I care. You smell of arrogance, so taking anything you say seriously is a hardship.
