YES. get Chops. i listen to that more than anything else in my collection. the fact that NHOP plays what he plays is amazing... but the fact that he does it with his eyes closed 90% of the time... that's just sick.

NHOP = Niels Henning Orsted Pederson, and he was amazing. He passed just a couple years back. But there isn't a bass player alive who couldn't use a lesson from Ray Brown. Ask any musician... they want a bassist who has the discipline to walk quarters like there's no tomorrow.

Joe rules - the KING. Nobody better ever. I was just watching the great Birelli playing Donna Lee and thought "Wow - that is super fast...TOO fast at expense of musicality, tone and accuracy," then I clicked on Joe's version here - and it's twice again as fast! but musical and supremely accurate. Mindblowing Joe Pass RIP. |
