I know exactly what you mean. And that works at low stakes. Above $5 - $10 you have to make plays sometimes, or you become too predictable. Check out "Esfandiari vs Grundy", "Negreanu vs Benjamine", "Tom Dwans biggest wins and losses", "Ivey crazy bluffing", "barry greenstein great play" on youtube. Exactly the same plays. If Antonio got benjamine to fold everyone would say it's a great play for sure. Just playing your own cards makes you beat low stakes, but it will never make you rich

basically guga this is waht i'm saying. let's take antonio's sitaution and put two different players. let's say one guy is playing standard poker and one guy likes to make plays. on the flop the standard player would have folded. so what i'm saying is the standard poker player in antonios spot would have lost about 1700. the other dude making the play would have lost about 100k. you understand what i'm saying?

not true. you're using instances. you're basically talking about situations that happen sometimes. btw i'm not talking about raising with suited connectors i'm talking about antonio making that play. btw if you watched teh wsop final table 2008 standard poker would have saved ALOT of those players. raising with suited connectors is fine i'm saying antonio's play wasn't neccessery and can get you in alot of trouble. which it did for antonio.

If you keep playing standard poker and you don't raise with suited connectors etc, your play becomes way too predictable and your monster hands will never get paid off. Phil Ivey plays his J2 like a pair of kings sometimesGotta give action to get action

well he's making a play. when ppl make plays it's normally fancy stuff that isn't really in the book. it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. in this case it didin't. if you watch the wsop 2008 final table you'll see why i think these kinds of plays are unneccessary.

trying to get fancy for $100k ?He's advertising here. Gotta give action to get action...Plays like those make you lose money sometimes, but they also make people pay you off with marginal hands once in a while. It just takes talent to be able to do that and make profit from it.

yea it's playable. the point is antonio's play is really unnecessary. just tryign to get fancy
